14-inch MacBook Pro M3 Now Supports Dual External Displays

Apple have released an update to macOS Sonoma, 14.6. In this version, improvements have been made to the stability and performance, alongside necessary security updates. What is more noteworthy is the introduction of support for dual external displays for the 14-inch MacBook Pro M3.

The update allows 14-inch MacBook Pro M3 users to use their device with up to two external displays, using a function that Apple refers to as clamshell mode. This allows the device to function without the need to open the lid.

If you are using a single display the 14-inch MacBook Pro M3 will support up to 6k resolution, and 5k if you are using dual displays up to 60Hz in the clamshell mode. A welcome update for someone who relies on multiple displays.

Should I buy a MacBook Pro 14-inch M3?

The MacBook Pro 14-inch M3 is the entry level specification of the current 14-inch MacBook Pro series. Apple introduced this device as a replacement for the previous generation MacBook Pro 13-inch models.

What makes this device so appealing is its top of the class display and incredible battery life. All of the M3 Pro models come with a stunning Liquid Retina XDR display as standard, enhancing the visual experience with vibrant colours and impressive clarity. The 14-inch MacBook Pro M3 also boasts one of the longest battery lives of any laptop, with up to 22 hours Apple TV app movie playback.

As a entry level option of the three M3 chipsets, we would recommend the base level spec (MacBook Pro 14-inch M3 8-core with 512GB Storage and 8GB Memory) for someone who is looking for a device to use for workplace applications like documents and spreadsheets, as well as internet browsing.
