The design is the same as the previous M2 models but new features such as faster WiFi 6E, improved microphones and the ability to connect two external displays have been introduced to both the MacBook Air M3 13-inch and 15-inch models. The MacBook Air M3 was released via press release in March 2024.
Both the 13-inch and 15-inch MacBook Air M3 come in three different memory configurations - 8GB, 16GB and 24GB
As with the previous M1 and M2 MacBook Air, the M3 MacBook Air can be ordered with 256GB, 512GB, 1TB and 2TB SSD.
The MacBook Air M3 comes in the same four colours as the previous M2 models, Midnight, Starlight, Space Grey and Silver. The M3 model introduced a new anodisation seal on the Midnight finish to reduce fingerprints.
CPU - both the M2 and M3 chips found in the MacBook Air are 8-core, the newer technology in the M3 chip means that it benchmarks approximately 20% higher.
GPU - both the M2 and M3 chips can be configured with an 8-core or 10-core GPU and they are very similar in performance.
WiFi - the M2 MacBook Air has WiFi 6 whereas the M3 MacBook Air has newer WiFi 6E technology for improved performance.
External Displays - MacBook Air M2 supports a single external display with up to 6K resolution, the MacBook Air M3 also supports a single external display with up to 6K resolution but if closing the lid you can connect a second display with up to 5K resolution.
Microphones - The M3 MacBook Air has improved microphones with added features such as Voice Isolation and Wide Spectrum.
